Christmastime is here...

Christmas time is here,
happiness and cheer,
fun for all that children call
their favorite time of year.

Snowflakes in the air,
carols everywhere,
olden times and ancient rhymes
of love and dreams to share.

Sleigh bells in the air,
beauty everywhere,
yuletide by the fireside
and joyful memories there.

Christmas time is here,
families drawing near,
oh that we could always see
such spirit through the year.

This song has been going through my head a lot this year. Part of the reason is because of the Peanuts Christmas Special, “A Charlie Brown Christmas”. Another part of the reason is that a few different groups have redone this song so I hear it more than previous years. It makes me think of the gang of peanuts characters, each of whom has issues (which makes them more real).

It also makes me think of Linus and how he recites the Christ Child’s story from Luke, and then says to Charlie Brown, “That’s what Christmas is all about, Charlie Brown.”
